Christina’s artistic journey began in Europe, where she was raised before returning to the United States to study Fine Art at Skidmore College. It was there that she discovered her passion for Abstract Expressionist painting, graduating with Highest Honors. Christina spent over a decade as an art director at leading advertising agencies on both coasts, an experience that sharpened her understanding of design concepts that often influence the structure of her paintings. Since transitioning to full-time painting in 2002, Christina has been recognized as an Emerging Artist by Art & Antiques Magazine and has exhibited her work extensively. Her paintings have been showcased in numerous exhibitions, featured in designer show homes, appeared on HGTV, and been highlighted in major publications. Today, her expressive, dynamic works grace the homes of thousands of collectors across the country. Artist Statement:Each blank canvas is a quiet conversation waiting to happen. I begin by listening, letting the canvas suggest its own rhythm and mood. Will it be serene and delicate, or vibrant and bold? Once that dialogue begins, my process shifts. The initial session is fast and intuitive, focused on building total coverage. Layering is essential to my work. Over multiple sessions, I build textures and structures, watching for moments of interest to emerge naturally and then developing the composition around them. My paintings evolve dramatically from start to finish, a reflection of energy, intuition, and discovery. I create a balance between areas of intense activity and moments of calm, inviting an emotional response through contrast and composition. Texture is a signature element. Marks from palette knives, wedges, and brushes bring a tactile dimension to the surface. Mixed media elements, from charcoal’s bold drama to the quiet lines of pencil and the lush color of oil sticks, deepen the narrative of each piece. The process of abstract painting is, for me, a continual act of trust. I surrender to the unknown, allowing each piece to guide me. After years of working this way, that trust feels almost spiritual. Every finished painting is an unexpected gift, and it is the thrill of that discovery that keeps me coming back to the canvas again and again.
