Born in Los Angeles CA, Leticia Lacy is an artist and contemporary painter. After receiving her BA in art studio at UCSB, she was a color designer and background painter on Cartoon Network's "Samurai Jack," "Star Wars Clone Wars," "Power Puff Girls," and "Tron." Then, she began art directing various animated tv series, specials and 3D movies for Disney and Nickelodeon. In addition, she painted backgrounds for the well-received Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse for Disney and more recently, lent her talents to Primal, an animated series for Cartoon Network. Currently, she focuses on her fine art. Her work combines California vintage vibes with a female perspective that focuses on the metaphor of "diving into the unknown." In one piece, a woman is diving from the clouds without a life vest. In other works, the female swimmer is looking out onto new horizons and weighing her options. With all of her background in art directing and visual development, she tends to lean towards figurative pieces that give a sense of story and uses bright energetic color palettes to set the mood. She has an affinity for vintage nostalgia with a new modern twist. The swimmer series inspired two new sets of work: one set of female portraits and another set of paintings depicting pool inner tubes flying about in splashy colors. The inner tube paintings spark memories of carefree days set in dreamy summer skies. Her first piece from this collection won an award at the juried Burbank Art Association Fall Show. In 2024 and 2025, her work has been exhibited and sold in Austin TX, Palm Beach FL, Dallas TX, and Santa Fe, NM and Atlanta, GA. In California, her paintings have found collectors and shown in group shows in San Francisco, Oceanside, Hermosa Beach, Laguna Beach, Santa Monica, Burbank and Palm Springs.
