Diana Gubbay is a contemporary artist based in Bethel, Connecticut, whose work reveals a deep and lifelong fascination with the unseen vitality that animates all matter. Raised in Montreal, she carried early intuitions of hidden energies and a larger purpose into her artistic journey—an impulse that would shape her entire creative life. Her formal training began in ceramics through the Bauhaus tradition at Sheridan College, followed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Toronto and an MFA in Sculpture from Hunter College in New York. In the late 1970s, Gubbay moved to New York City, where her Dumbo loft became a laboratory for installations, drawings, and sculptures exploring architectural forms and the gestures that infuse them with expressive energy. Her work was exhibited widely across North America. After a long hiatus to raise a family and practice holistic family health in Connecticut—a period during which she rediscovered connections between healing, balance, and creative force—Gubbay returned to art with a fresh vision. She embraced new digital media, combining traditional brushwork, photography, and digital painting to create colorful abstract works and cosmic-inspired circles that map internal and outer vibrational landscapes. Gubbay’s recent work has appeared in juried exhibitions across Connecticut, California, Arizona, Michigan, Massachusetts, and beyond. She has earned numerous distinctions, including awards of excellence, and her work continues to resonate with her vision of art as a bridge between the universal and the intimate.
