Jennifer Judd-McGee is an artist, pattern designer, and illustrator based in Northeast Harbor. She has exhibited her original work in galleries across the U.S., with a highlight being a summer-long solo show at her alma mater in the Blum Gallery at the College of the Atlantic in 2014. Since 2007, Jennifer has worked on licensing and freelance editorial illustration projects for a wide range of clients. These include the New York City Subway’s Arts for Transit poster program, The Community School on Mount Desert Island, Target, Hallmark, Land of Nod, Liberty Puzzles, Timberland, Storey Publishing, Taproot Magazine, CLYNK, and many more. In 2016, she was featured in The Art of Acadia, a book by Carl Little celebrating the Acadia Centennial.Jennifer is best known for her hand-rendered original papercuttings. Created in a loose, freehand style that evolves as she works, each piece aims to achieve a cohesive, rustic-yet-modern look. While her work appears delicate, it is intentionally designed to be sturdy and lasting. She owns Swallowfield, a shop in Northeast Harbor where, since 2016, she has sold her designs on functional household items, alongside the work of many other independent artists and makers. Her creative inspiration comes from the natural beauty of Mount Desert Island, the concept of home, and the strength of community—especially in small towns. She also has a deep love for mid-century Scandinavian design, particularly textiles and patterns. Jennifer is excited to be exhibiting at Artemis again this year.
