Sheila is an abstract intuitive painter. She has a traditional painting background with experience in figure, still life and portrait. Sheila fell in love with the abstract painting from the first piece that she did, and this opened up a whole new world for her work. Her natural sense of color, composition and mark-making lends itself to the non-representational abstract work. She works primarily in acrylics and mixed media. “My work reflects my busy and active mind. I have a deep curiosity to look and explore. As I walk around the city, I absorb shapes, colors and spaces. I collect those little fragments and tuck them away. My paintings move with line and color, just as I move through this world. The lines are wandering, and the marks are bold. Like a risk-taker. It’s the excitement and joy of seeing everyday things one more time. It’s what I see, how I move, and how I think. I go for another walk. I see the world again. And then I let those fragments explode onto the canvas.” Sheila was featured as a Style Maker in Luxe Magazine, “Chicago Artist’s Abstract Art Channels The Soul Of The City” (May/June 2019). She was also written up in the Chicago Booth Magazine, “Balancing Logic with Intuition” (May/June 2021). Sheila has collaborated with established art brands including Liquitex and Blick Arts Materials on social media campaigns. She has an engaged audience of 75k followers on Instagram.Sheila graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University with a degree in Economics and Finance. She has an MBA with High Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. And one more thing. She can’t stop painting.
