I was introduced to stained glass in the 70's when I was in college. The translucency and beauty of glass and how light, color and form could become an emotional tool..captivated me. As an Art teacher I came across the "fused glass" technique and began taking my scraps of stained glass and melting them in a pottery kiln. Quickly learning that not all glass is created to fuse together and that there is a lot of science and math involved. I immersed myself in the glass community and developed my skills through practice, education and had a mentor, Craig Mitchell Smith. My passion for glass has lead me to a greater connection with nature. I have been a monarch butterfly conservationist for years and now create garden and wall sculptures of the magnificent insect in hope of bringing awareness to the plight of the endangered monarch.
