The New Yorker describes Scott Redden's work as: "landscapes with a rare combination of qualities: terse, mysterious, comical." His deceptively simple paintings are examples of intelligent, brilliantly honed compositions employing crystal sharp and clean coloration. Redden graduated from Syracuse University, studied at the Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork, Ireland, and received his MFA from Hunter College in New York City. He has exhibited with many prestigious galleries including The Dillon Gallery, OK Harris Works of Art and The Woodward Gallery. Scott incorporates both figurative and abstract elements into his modern, idealized Americana. Scott currently lives in Brooklyn, New York while maintaining his painting studio in the Chelsea Art district in Manhattan. The project consists of seven large "faceted glass" panels (42"x72" to 46"x76" each) and is permanently installed along the outdoor, open air platform. Natural light illuminates the painterly images. Fabrication and installation by the Willet Hauser Architectural Glass Studio in Winona, MN. Licensing 2006-2009 - Artbeats, Inc., an affiliate of the New York Graphic Society, licenses eight painting images for poster publication and distribution throughout the United States and Canada. Artist Residency 2010 - The Cill Rialaig Project in Ballinskelligs, County Kerry, Ireland awards a three-week residency in October of 2010. The Cill Rialaig Artist Retreat presents a unique opportunity to revisit (see 2008 below) the west coast of Ireland to continue an art study in a secluded, private studio provided and to exercise a rigorous Plein Air painting practice out in the field. 2008 - The Cill Rialaig Project in Ballinskelligs, County Kerry, Ireland awards a two-week residency in March of 2008. The Cill Rialaig Artist Retreat, built out of the ruins of a deserted pre-famine village (circa 1796) atop a cliff face overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, offers free accommodation with studio in an inspiring coastal landscape. To date, this prestigious program boasts an acceptance of 1,800 International and Irish artists of 30,000 applications.
