Born in Gonaïves, Haiti, Mompremier moved to Port-au-Prince in 1972, initially working as a tailor before pursuing his passion for art. He apprenticed under Gérard Valcin and began painting scenes of daily life, eventually focusing on depictions of Vodou lwa (spirits). Mompremier's works are celebrated internationally, having been exhibited in Germany, France, and the United States.
