From an early age, Summer Spitsbergen has been an adventurer, traveler, and explorer. She came into the world in true Old West style, being born on a ranch in the wilderness of Montana. Her Father, a ranch hand for the Broken O cattle company, and Mother welcomed Summer one early August morning at the ranch house in Augusta. After a short time, Summer and her family found themselves back in their native town of Pagosa Springs Colorado, where Summer developed some of her most fond childhood memories. Pagosa has been a continual source of inspiration. As a self taught artist, the discovery of her love for art was at a very young age. A native to the west, she had a special connection to the vast and vibrant landscapes. Summer and her husband, Daniel, currently live on their families working cattle ranch in Southern Oregon. The ranch also provides an abundance of inspiration. You will find many of her paintings are based on her daily life working cows and horses with her family. Summer has achieved much success in the past 5 years since taking on art as a full time career. She has participated in prestigious shows like the CM Russell Museum’s Saturday Live Auction, Rodeo De Tucson at The Medicine Man Gallery, The Mountain Ouster Club Art Show and Sale and many more. Summer has also been featured in magazines such as Southwest Art in the 21 under 31 article and Western Art Collector Magazine. Her work has gained major art collectors from all over the United States and she continues to pursue painting as her passion.
