Kate was brought up in England, one of five daughters in a busy and active family. Her family often visited the great museums and galleries in London. She remembers losing herself, literally, in those places. It felt like home to Kate so she never felt lost – although apparently her parents did. Her earliest training was at Chelsea School of Art, but she moved on to University College to study Humanities which seemed more marketable. But Kate kept sneaking back into the studio arts classes. Her family moved to the states, and early promise gave way to reality and adulthood hit her like a freight train. Kate stashed away this part of her soul like others put away old clothes for years while she taught art, created a family and worked full time. But after a couple of years her doodles grew back into drawings and the drawing grew into paintings and Kate reached back into herself, cracked open that box, and it all came flying out. She took workshops and painted at night while the children slept, and built her body of work. She started showing again in the early 2000’s at local outdoor festivals. Kate’s success grew and she pushed hard, determined never to lose her purpose again. Kate has been a professional artist now since 2010. Lost and found. Based in Orlando, Kate’s studio home is McRae Art Studios.
