Carter Goodrich is a highly celebrated illustrator and character designer whose distinct, texture-rich style has left an indelible mark on both contemporary editorial art and the world of feature animation. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Goodrich began his career as a freelance illustrator in New York City, eventually producing over 20 iconic covers for The New Yorker and earning two Gold Medals from the Society of Illustrators. His transition into film began with DreamWorks' The Prince of Egypt (1995), leading to a prolific career as a lead character designer for industry-defining hits such as Ratatouille, Brave, and Despicable Me. Renowned for his ability to imbue characters with deep humanity and expressive personality through unique shapes and pencil work, he has received six Annie Award nominations, winning twice for his work on Ratatouille and The Croods. Today, Goodrich continues to work from Los Angeles, where he also writes and illustrates award-winning children’s books, including Nobody Hugs a Cactus and the Say Hello to Zorro! series.
