Marlene London has been a painter for over 30 years and has always been aggressive in her pursuit of creative excellence. With a BA in English from Skidmore College in upstate NY, and her design schooling at Paier School of Art in Hamden, Ct, Marlene started her career as a short story writer with an ability to create strong, detailed visuals in her stories. Years later, the reverse happened where painting became her focus and words were included to complete the narrative. She studied art with Wolfe Kahn, Squeak Carnwath, Charles Garabedian, and Jane Hammond. Her workshops and residencies have included The Vermont Studio Center in Burlington Vermont, The Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, The Anderson Ranch in Aspen, Colorado, and R&F Paint Studios in Kingston, New York.Marlene has traveled throughout Europe, Mexico and the US where she was greatly influenced by her exploration of the arts and her cultural experiences. From these experiences and studying other diverse artists, she has developed her own approach to her mixed-media work, marrying layers of paint, wax, pencil, ink, stamps, exotic papers and charcoal. To date, Marlene has exhibited in over 60 gallery and museum shows. At present, Marlene is represented in Orlando and Tampa, Florida and Lexington, Kentucky.
