My artistic journey began in childhood, deeply influenced by my father who was both a commercial artist and painter. Later I went on to earn a BS in Art from Nazareth College. After several years teaching in Rochester’s Inner City I went on to earn Masters Degrees in Historic Preservation from Columbia U and Architecture from Yale. My architectural training instilled a strong sense of structure and spatial design that informs balance and form in my paintings and drawings. Over the past decade I have had the freedom to explore and develop my painting skills and I am grateful to be able to devote time almost daily to creating in my studio at the Kee Lox Facility. My work invites viewers into the unique beauty of Western New York, Vermont, and the many places I have traveled around the world. I seek to capture the textures, colors, light and atmosphere of the places where I paint as well as the personalities of the subjects of my figurative work. I look forward to the connections and discoveries that come through my art, each piece an exciting and challenging opportunity for exploration. I am a signature member of the Rochester Art Club and a member of the Genesee Valley Plein Air Painters and the Mill Art Center. I find joy in drawing with artists in Studio 402 at the Anderson Art Center.
