Jennifer Williams, originally from Australia and now based in New York City, is a contemporary oil painter whose work vibrantly celebrates landscapes, cityscapes and the human figure. Using gesture, line and form, she evokes the movement and illumination she sees in the world, often blending realistic details with touches of fantasy. A visit to her studio feels like stepping into one of her paintings: moonlit alleyways, the long shadows of Lower Manhattan, the warm glow of Parisian cafés and the pulsing lights of Times Square all come alive under her brush. Her techniques—texturing, glazing and painting on metal with transparent oil glazes —invite viewers to feel the energy of each scene. Williams’s art mirrors her adventurous, risk-taking spirit and conveys the joy she finds in both untamed nature and bustling urban life. Raised on a remote property in the foothills of Australia’s Snowy Mountains, she developed a deep appreciation for wild landscapes that continues to fuel her vivid imagination. In her botanical works, familiar flora mingle with inventive plant forms. She frames each composition from an almost insect-level viewpoint, placing us amid oversized blossoms and twisting vines that seem to spill beyond the canvas edge. Williams’s keen eye for nature’s patterns and rhythms is evident in her work.Williams holds a B.A. in business and pursued fine-arts studies at Parsons School of Design, New York, The Art Students League of New York, Rowayton Arts Center and Silvermine School of Art. Alongside painting, she studied neurotherapies and founded several Pilates and rehabilitative-movement studios. Her award-winning paintings are in private and public collections across the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Caribbean. Her cityscapes were recently featured in a juried exhibition at New York’s Salmagundi Club. Her work is currently on view in Paris, New York, Charleston and Greenwich, Connecticut. She is represented by Reinert Fine Art (Charleston, SC), Sorokin Gallery (Greenwich, CT), Galerie DDG (Paris) and Alofft Gallery (Litchfield, CT). A member of the Artists Collective of Westport, the Greenwich Art Society and the Rowayton Artists Collective, Williams is also the great-niece of celebrated Australian painter Moya Dyring, whose work is held by the National Gallery of Australia.
