Kay Nari is a contemporary abstract artist. She was born in Seoul, Korea and was immersed in art from the earliest stages of her life. Nari’s mother was a self-taught artist who worked as a talented seamstress in Seoul. Her love for art influenced Nari’s life and career. As a child, Nari attended an art school in Korea, where she became further immersed in the fundamentals of art. Later, she would reference these fundamentals in her artistic career as she went on to create the abstract works that we see from her today. Nari continued her art lessons at home. She has many happy memories creating art in her family home. At the age of eleven, Nari moved to Los Angeles, California with her family. During this time, she pursued a career in art, continuing her education at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Here, she specialized in Fine Arts and Illustration. She received her bachelor’s degree in 2000, graduating with honors. In Los Angeles, Kay Nari worked as an Editorial Illustrator for many magazines, publishing companies, and record companies. Notably, her work has been featured in the Art Directors Annual No. 80 for Warner Brother Records. Furthermore, she’s had many works of art shown in art galleries throughout Los Angeles. In 2012, Nari moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she worked as a Production Artist until 2018. Nari has used her various experiences to develop her own style of fine art painting. As an abstract artist, she spends her days in her studio creating paintings that concentrate on movement. Additionally, she adds varying layers of paints and textures to convey a range of emotions in her work. She enjoys creating most of her artwork using acrylic paints and ink on canvases and paper. Her artwork consists of Floral, Abstract, Transitional, and Landscape in modern contemporary looks. She finds inspiration for her art through textile design, photography and interior design. Nari currently lives in Goodyear, Arizona with her husband, two sons, and her dog.
