Brian Bosworth is a contemporary ceramic sculptor whose work feels like it was designed by someone who has spent equal time inside great buildings and out in the desert— because he has. His ceramics carry the restraint of brutalism and the quiet of open landscape simultaneously. Heavy where you expect light. Open where you expect solid. Each piece occupies its space with the confidence of architecture and the patience of stone. Working under the name BKB Ceramics, Bosworth creates vessels and sculptural forms shaped by the visual languages of mid-century architecture, brutalism, and minimalism. Proportion, surface, and form are his primary tools— restrained yet expressive, balancing weight and lightness, solidity and openess, with quiet attention to organic variation. Bosworth received his B.A. from California State University, Bakersfield and his M.F.A. in Studio Art from Claremont Graduate University. He has worked professionally in ceramics and sculpture since 2002. Based between Joshua Tree, California and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in private collections throughout the United States and abroad, with features in numerous design and art publications. He previously owned and operated a retail and gallery space for eight years in Joshua Tree and Palm Springs. Alongside his studio practice, he teaches ceramic sculpture and wheel throwing at The Studio School and art at Deer Creek High School in Oklahoma City. Work by Brian Bosworth is available through Illumine Gallery. Please inquire for commissions and shipping.
