Dorothy Ganek is an award winning contemporary abstract artist who often uses recognizable objects and non-objective shapes along with gestural marksto tell her story. Born and raised in Greece until the age of 10, Ganek’s memories of the turquoise Aegean Sea and the gardens on the grounds of the Sparta Museum continue to inspire her use of color and subject matter.The bright Mediterranean light is presentin most of her paintings using strong contrast and complex compositions. Ganek studied at the New York School of InteriorDesign, who went on to have an interior design business, Ganek Interiors, along with an active art career. A talented watercolorist, she was accepted into the prestigious American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society earning signature membership. Dorothy’s paintingshave been includedin many group exhibitions in museums across the US. Among them National Academy of Design, Bergen Museum, NJ, Monmouth Museum NJ, Seton Hall University, Morris Museum NJ, Nicolaysen Art Museum Wyoming, Jesse Besser Museum Michigan, Saginaw Art Museum MI, to name a few. Her paintings can be found in numerouscorporate collections such as Schering Plough, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, NEC American, CIGNA, SANOFI US, MONY and many others.
