Dorothy Ganek is an award-winning contemporary abstract artist who uses recognizable objects, non-objective shapes and gestural marks to tell her story. Born and raised in Greece until the age of 10, Ganek's memories of the turquoise Aegean Sea and the gardens of Sparta continuously inspire her use of color and subject matter. Ganek studied at the New York School of Interior Design, and currently lives in New Jersey. A talented watercolor artist who works in a more contemporary style than most still-life painters, Dorothy's paintings have refreshing movement and elegance for the person who appreciates her unique style. The coloring is soft with recognizable elements and the composition is complex and slightly abstract. This combination creates a style that generates a lot of interest and which many people find appealing. Ganek has been in over 20 group and solo shows and has been featured in numerous art publications. Her paintings are in many corporate collections including Bloomingdales, CIGNA, Dean Whitter Reynolds and Warner Lambert.
