Lisa Stark has always been inspired by Nature. She has maintained that inspiration through her many years in the tech industry, motherhood and during her move from beach life in Santa Cruz to the beach in La Venana, Baja California Sur. “So many things inspire my work. Nature, technology, windsurfing, and most importantly, the spirit of “What If?”. This spirit drives me to continually experiment with subjects, materials and adapting the processes I use. Many surprises have revealed themselves with this experimental approach as well as discovering new techniques. Keeping an open mind has allowed my art to evolve. I have moved away from a strictly representational style to one that pushes color and abstracts identifiable elements. Leaving room for the imagination by adding and subtracting elements as I feel necessary. This process can take months! My current medium is Acrylic, used as a base but can include other color pigments. Each painting is an individual piece and can contain other mixed media elements. My travels to the Pacific Northwest, Maui, Hawaii, Mexico and recently to the Northeast have been a wonderful source of ideas and inspiration! Success for me is when a viewer can discover something new and different every time they see the painting.”
