ALEJANDRO BOTUBOL Cadiz, 1979Painter Born in Cádiz (Spain) trained at the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Seville. He continued his studies in New York, where he was influenced by several North American artists such as James Turrell or Dan Flavin. Botubol then received a Master's Degree in Contemporary Art, Idea and Production in the University of Seville. He is currently working on a very process-based series of landscape painting that overlap in search of a fortuitous encounter. The artist himself has stated that a constant in his work is his persistent exploration of spatial phenomena, incorporating internal and symbolic elements that have to do with life experiences, sometimes based on found images. Alejandro Botubol proposes an infinite painting that delves into issues such as absence, gravity, spirituality and time, highlighting his work with geometry, color and light. He has obtained important painting awards, including the Gold Medal at the 82nd Valdepeñas International Fine Arts Exhibition (2021), and the Medal at the 34th BMW Painting Award, Madrid (2019). He has also carried out artistic residencies nationally and internationally, highlighting Residency Unlimited (RU) Brooklyn (2013); international studio & curatorial program (iscp), Brooklyn, New York (2013), Zhou B Art Center, Chicago. (2022). His work has been exhibited in museums, art galleries and national and international institutions: Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Finland, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia and the USA. He currently lives and works in Madrid.
