Jon MacAdam (1976, London, UK) is a landscape artist known for his realist depictions of nature. He received his MFA in painting and sculpture from Gordon College in Wenham, MA, and furthered his studies in Orvieto, Italy under Catherine Prescott. MacAdam travels throughout rural New York and New England painting luxuriant depictions of marshes, fields, and rivers, often in plein air. He explains his process: “Painting from life, allows for a deeper engagement with the environment and an intimate recollection of the experience while back in the studio.” MacAdam has participated in many group and solo shows, and his paintings have been acquired by collectors across the United States and Europe. Jon Macadam has always been captivated by the unique landscape and light of Maine. Every summer throughout his childhood, he would travel there to visit relatives, forming a deep and lasting connection to the region. His mother and her family lived in the Wiscasset area, and he continues to enjoy revisiting the places that left a lasting impression on him as a child.
