Born in 1998, Charlotte Caron lives and works in Mauricie, where she has established her studio. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Visual and Media Arts, research-creation profile, at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), with completion expected in fall 2026. Charlotte Caron’s practice is rooted in an in-depth exploration of painting, approached both as material and as a perceptual experience. Through the use of paint and epoxy, she develops a body of work grounded in stratification, transparency, and the transformation of surfaces, where each layer functions as a space of tension between appearance and disappearance. Oscillating between abstraction and figuration, her work reflects a particular sensitivity to the sensuality of gesture, material density, and pictorial expressiveness. The surface becomes a site of extraction and metamorphosis, where forms emerge, unfold, distort, and reconfigure themselves through an ever-shifting relationship with the gaze. Through processes of layering and depth, Charlotte Caron seeks to create images that do not reveal themselves immediately, but rather unfold progressively over time, engaging the viewer in an active perceptual experience in which the work is shaped as much by its materiality as by the attention brought to it. La surface devient un lieu d’extraction et de métamorphose, où les formes émergent, se déploient, se déforment et se reconfigurent dans une relation mouvante au regard. À travers un processus de superposition et de profondeur, Charlotte Caron cherche à produire des images qui ne se livrent pas immédiatement, mais qui se révèlent progressivement dans le temps, engageant le spectateur dans une expérience de perception active, où l’œuvre se construit autant par sa matérialité que par l’attention qu’on lui porte.
