Andrea Cáceres is a self-taught Venezuelan illustrator and art director, now based in New York City. Originally trained as a civil engineer in Venezuela, she transitioned into design through painting personalized mugs, which led her to work as a textile designer. In 2016, she relocated to NYC and began designing for a baby clothing company, gaining experience in illustration, branding, and social media design. Her breakthrough came with the viral social media project “A dog a day keeps the stress away,” where she posted 365 daily dog illustrations in a year. That project attracted a dedicated following and launched her full-time illustration career. Her distinct style—playful, warm, and instantly recognizable—is rooted in instinct and shaped by her own creative aesthetics rather than formal training. Her inspirations include Jon Klassen, Carson Ellis, and Marc Martin Kinship. She is the creator of the viral Instagram series Dog Affirmations and the author/illustrator of children’s picture books Hello, Tobi! and My Dog Just Speaks Spanish, the latter published in Spring 2023 by Candlewick/Bloomsbury. Andrea engages in live events—like pet portrait sessions and murals—and collaborates with brands in design, art direction, and branded content. Her clients include: Microsoft, Snapchat, Barkbox, J.Crew, The Farmer’s Dog, Bondvet, Koala, Turnstyle, and more. She currently lives in NYC with her two dogs, Toby (a Silky Terrier and longtime muse) and Sherlock (a Weimaraner adopted through rescue).
