Coleman Senecal is a self-taught oil painter, best known for her open water paintings and her big sky landscapes that blur the lines between realism and impressionism. She is currently exploring the seemingly endless patterns in nature and the way they connect in unexpectedly abstract ways. With her water paintings, she welcomes the apparent contradiction of capturing something that is in constant motion, taking a precise moment in time, and representing it on a completely still canvas. Coleman currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband and three boys. When she’s not working on new artwork in her home studio, she can be found driving her older sons to their travel soccer tournaments, chasing after her two year old, snuggling her puppy, spending as much time in nature as possible, and dreaming of moving back to England with her husband one day.
