Linda Nickell is the former manager of school programs at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and for many years enjoyed introducing the world of art to students of all ages through creative programming. Linda received a degree in arts education from Missouri State University. Linda was both an art educator in public and private schools as well as a graphic designer and illustrator for corporations in Kansas City for many years. Currently residing in the KC area, Linda Nickell spends her time working in her home studio daily, creating art. Linda primarily works with oil and cold wax medium, and enjoys creating a narrative by abstracting ordinary scenes, such as a vivid patchwork of farmland or a chair that has gone unnoticed. It is her goal to bring the viewer into a closer experience with the subject matter and the layers of paint and mark making that invite the viewer to dialog with the painting. Most recently, Linda was awarded 3rd place in the Cold Wax Academy 2024 International Juried Exhibition and has been a featured artist in Uppercase Magazine. Several of her works are in private and corporate collections across the country including Dallas, Portland, and New York City.
