Leslie Giuliani creates richly layered works that merge painting, embroidery, and gilded craftsmanship. Working with textured encaustic and oil surfaces on microfiber paper, she transforms her drawings through digitizing software into intricate embroidered compositions. These embroidered forms are enhanced with appliquéd fragments of encaustic paintings and decorative stitching, producing immersive, dynamic environments for the imagery to inhabit. Completed in her own handmade gilded frames, Giuliani’s work fuses tradition and technology, craft and fine art, into theatrical, tactile narratives. Each piece offers a distinctive, engaging presence, drawing viewers into a complex interplay of texture, color, and storytelling.
