Leslie Giuliani creates richly layered works that merge painting, embroidery, and gilded craftsmanship. She paints textured encaustic and oil surfaces on microfiber paper, then transforms her drawings through digitizing software into intricate embroidered compositions. These embroidered forms are further embellished with appliquéd fragments of encaustic paintings and decorative stitching, creating dynamic environments for the imagery to inhabit. Finished in her own handmade gilded frames, Giuliani’s works fuse tradition and technology, craft and fine art, into theatrical, tactile narratives.
