Ricardo Vicente Jose Ruiz is an artist and publisher based in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his MFA at Virginia Commonwealth University. His studio practice is rooted in drawing and explores modes of painting and printmaking. He uses different methods and genres of storytelling to explore themes of the human condition from the perspective of an artist who's invested in the history of the Americas. Ricardo continues a rich folkloric tradition shared to him by his father that was born out of the history and wonder of the South Texas landscape.He has attended numerous residencies and has been awarded multiple fellowships from institutions such as the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (2020). His artwork is included in public and private institutions, with published works in the collections of the Whitney and LACMA. His most recent exhibition was at Nail Salon in Brooklyn,NY.
