Stephen Graham started his career in story telling by writing and acting in plays in grade school. By the time he was in junior high at the Campus School, he was working with national touring acts at a psychedelic disco in South Buffalo, working closely with rock and roll acts that included The Bob Seger System, Nazz, the Classics IV, Ultimate Spinach, The Lemon Pipers and others. The next year, he was co-owner of his own psychedelic light show named “Fruitzilla’s Lights” which supported local and national acts on the college and music circuit in Buffalo, NY. At Buffalo State college he studied theatre and art history, and after transferring to SUNY Buffalo, he studied film and media and was the assistant to film artist Paul Sharits. After moving to Washington, DC, his first jobs in television soon followed where he lived for over ten years while working in film and video production. He traveled the country shooting for blue-chip corporations, trade associations, labor unions and national networks Pre-9/11, he worked as a location fixer on the Sidney Pollack directed/Harrison Ford starring film "Random Hearts," stealing shots on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol before moving on to Hollywood. L.A., City of Demons for the Discovery Channel, The Property Brothers at Home, Selling L.A. for HGTV, TV Guide Network, Style Network,
National Geographic shows, and many others. In 2007, he shot a documentary with Melissa Etheridge upon her return to the recording studio in Malibu and shot promos, publicity, and BTS surrounding her album "The Awakening”, and was shooting on stage with her in the Meadowlands New Jersey for her performance at “Live Earth” on 7/7/07. In 2012 he was cinematographer on the exploratory film crew in Honduras as they searched for the "Lost City of the Monkey God" with LIDAR, which was written about in the NY Times best selling book of the same title, and was featured in National Geographic magazine and the New Yorker, with the documentary of the same name now on Amazon Prime. With over 35 years of experience, he’s been cinematographer on numerous feature films, documentaries, commercials and EPK’s. Recently he was cinematographer on the action/comedy film “Paying Mr. McGetty” starring Don “The Dragon” Wilson, and R. Marcos Taylor, and was in discussions within indie producer Roger Corman to produce a film through his company. Upon returning to Buffalo, he worked as camera operator on features shot in New York State, and as Director/Writer/Cinematographer on the short film "Memories of the Future" in 2018. Since 2016 he has concentrated his energies to travel and to create "cinematographic" photography. In 2019 he circumnavigated the globe, photographing and documenting his travels, published as the book "A Vapor of Time." He has written two books: “Aaah-heads, Psycus, and the Three Legged Dog,” a memoir of his youth, and “A Vapor in Time. ” Both books can be found on Amazon. His passions are creating art from found materials, photography, writing, and biking.
