I was born in a small city in Tennessee, USA. I now live in the south of Spain with my Spanish husband. For many years I sold my paintings in galleries in Puerto Banus and in Marbella itself. When the galleries closed, I began to paint at home in my husband's shop and sometimes I even designed and made jewelry. This gave me economical independence which allowed me to continue painting whatever I wished. Oil painting, my life's passion, began at the age of 10 with my first oil painting. After years of experimenting with color and composition, "Impression Realism" developed from the search for meaning of life itself. Motif became the creative force in an attempt to share that special experience everyone has in a moment when the surroundings, not just a view of them but also the air, sounds and feelings are recorded deep inside leaving a lasting memory. As that moment deepens, we retain more than just what is visible and a composite experience appears which translates into composition lending itself to associated memories and then motif begins to develop. It is really a challenge to speak with images which will touch our essence through the vision of a painting. Painting with oils is also a challenge as their translucent quality enables depth to appear but this requires successive layers to be applied. For surface light layers of small points of oils have to be made. The painting then seems to breathe. The actual time spent on creating the paintings is therefore elevated which causes a low production. I hope you will enjoy them!
