Abhishek Singh (b. 1982) is an artist, author, and storyteller whose work bridges mythological narrative, ecological consciousness, and spiritual exploration. Deeply rooted in Indian philosophy and symbolism, his art invites viewers into a visionary realm where gods, natural forces, and inner journeys intertwine. Singh’s visual practice is informed by years of personal study of ancient Indian texts, indigenous traditions, and world mythologies. His unique approach to storytelling combines intricate illustration, layered symbolism, and meditative themes. Across his paintings and graphic novels—including Krishna – A Journey Within, Namaha, Purnam, Sarvam, and his latest project Hymns of Medhini—he crafts immersive, otherworldly narratives that explore the relationship between humans, the divine, and the Earth. Hymns of Medhini—“Medhini” meaning “ancient Earth” in Sanskrit—is a body of work shaped by Singh’s time in the Himalayas and his interactions with elephants, nature, and silence. The series channels mythic memory and ecological wisdom, evoking a deep sense of interconnectedness and reverence for the planet. “The hymns of Medhini are drawn meditations,” Singh explains, “where many stars are submerged in the Earth’s eternal waters, waiting to be invoked—a metaphor for our amniotic memories and our bond with nature.”Singh’s works have been exhibited at prestigious venues including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Asia Society Texas Center, Michael C. Carlos Museum, and at global festivals such as Burning Man, Boom Festival, and the Jaipur Literature Festival. His books and collaborations—with figures like Deepak Chopra and Shekhar Kapur—have reached a global audience, with over half a million copies sold and translations in multiple languages. Combining ancient aesthetics with a contemporary voice, Singh’s art resonates across cultures and disciplines. His work reflects a personal search for meaning, a deep connection to the Earth, and a commitment to visualizing the sacred in everyday life.
