Julien Laporte (b. 1995, Perpignan, France) holds a DNAP (Diplome Nationale des Arts Plastiques) from the Ecole des Beaux Arts. His work has been presented in museums and galleries across France and internationally including Maison de la Catalanité in Perpignan, Jonathan Roze Gallery in Rennes, and Johansson Projects in Oakland, California. The son of winegrowers, Laporte finds inspiration in the luminous coastal landscapes of Southern France, experimenting with the rhythmic interplay of flat color fields and spirited, expressive gesture that evokes the legacy of the Fauves. He currently lives and works in Perpignan, France.
