Florencia Rothschild was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and currently lives in Coatepec, Mexico. She holds a degree in Visual Arts with a focus on Fine Arts and Ceramic Technique from the National University of the Arts (UNA–Argentina), and a Master's degree in Education for Interculturality and Sustainability from the Universidad Veracruzana. For over twenty years, she has taught visual arts and currently leads the ceramics studio at La Ceiba Gráfica. She has exhibited both solo and collectively in Argentina, Mexico, and the United States. In 2025, she was selected for a public project at Salon Acme, curated by Rafael Toriz — a recognition that highlights the contemporary strength and poetic depth of her work. Her practice revolves around existential themes linked to the human experience, the body, and its (de)construction. Through fragmented and contorted forms that evolve into new possible bodies, she challenges notions of individuality and subjectivity, favoring a more fluid and collective vision of identity. She integrates architectural elements into her work, reinterpreting them freely to establish a dialogue between structure and organicity. Material — especially ceramics — holds a central place in her research, approached as a sensorial, sensitive, intellectual, and symbolic medium, giving shape to a body of work that is both embodied and poetic. Elle est titulaire d’un diplôme en arts visuels, avec une spécialisation en beaux-arts et techniques de la céramique, de l’Université nationale des arts (UNA – Argentine), ainsi que d’une maîtrise en éducation pour l’interculturalité et la durabilité de l’Université de Veracruz. Depuis plus de vingt ans, elle enseigne les arts visuels et dirige actuellement l’atelier de céramique de La Ceiba Gráfica. Elle a exposé en solo et en groupe en Argentine, au Mexique et aux États-Unis. En 2025, elle a été sélectionnée pour un projet public au Salon Acme, sous le commissariat de Rafael Toriz — une reconnaissance qui témoigne de la force contemporaine et de la profondeur poétique de son travail. Sa pratique s’articule autour de thématiques existentielles liées à l’expérience humaine, au corps et à sa (dé)construction. Par le biais de formes fragmentées et contorsionnées qui se transforment en de nouveaux corps possibles, elle remet en question les notions d’individualité et de subjectivité, au profit d’une vision plus fluide et collective de l’identité. Elle intègre à ses œuvres des éléments architecturaux qu’elle réinvente librement, établissant un dialogue entre structure et organicité. La matière — en particulier la céramique — occupe une place centrale dans sa recherche, qu’elle aborde comme un médium sensoriel, sensible, intellectuel et symbolique, donnant forme à une œuvre à la fois incarnée et poétique.
