Having originally studied Three-dimensional Design, Gill Forsbrook’s main area of interest is in exploring the possibilities for making inherent in materials. For some years the potential of plastics as a material for making jewellery was the primary focus of her work. Over recent years experimentation has resulted in jewellery made from a wider variety of materials including paper, metal and wood.A wish to further investigate the fundamentals of colour and light, and of form and space led to a recent period of study resulting inan MA in Fine Art. Gill’s work now encompasses both wearable jewellery and non wearable sculptural objects. Gill comments that‘Whether the results are sculptural pieces or jewellery, it is the making; the collaborative action between myself, material andprocess, that is at the core of my practice. She hopes that the objects she makes reflect some of the joy and excitement of discoveryexperienced in the process of making.’
