After graduating from RCA in 2000, I have been consistently integrating traditional textile techniques into jewellery design. This includes incorporating various fiber techniques into jewellery design, such as Korean knotting methods for gold brooches and necklaces. My work focuses on reinterpreting traditional textile techniques through contemporary jewelleries.In addition to using precious metals, I have also created large-scale pieces that imbue sculptural value by utilizing modern materials like silicone and woven stainless steel mesh.Recently, I have been exploring Korean traditional basket weaving called "Wancho. (완초莞草)" While traditionally using plant stems, I have been experimenting with dyed fishing line and paper string to improve the weight and durability which I develop into various jewellery pieces. In my jewelry creations, I explore the rich tradition of Korean basket weaving through a contemporary eyes, intertwining age-old techniques with modern materials to evoke a sense of cultural heritage and artistic innovation. Through the act of wearing and interacting with these pieces, I hope wearers become part of a narrative that bridges the past and the present, fostering a deeper appreciation for the craft and its enduring relevance in today's world.
