Carol Saft was born in Newark, New Jersey, and attended The Pratt Institute New Forms program. She received a full fellowship to complete her MFA at S.U.N.Y. Purchase. Her recent paintings have been shown at Marque Projects and Mt. Airy Contemporary. Saft’s videos and sculptures have been presented nationally and internationally at film festivals, museums, and galleries, including The Smithsonian Institution, Aurora Picture Show, the United Nations World Conference, Islip Art Museum, Guild Hall Museum, Parrish Art Museum, Pierogi Gallery, DiverseWorks, and CableVision’s 28sec Project. She has received grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, the International Film and Television Workshop, CableVision Systems, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the New York Community Trust. Saft has participated in residencies at Abrons Arts Center, Vermont Studio Center, Cooper Union Summer Residency, and most recently, the Wythe Hotel Film Residency in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Her work has been reviewed in publications including The New Yorker, New York Newsday, Two Coats of Paint, Ocula, Berkeley Press, Chelsea Now, Southampton Press, and East Hampton Star.
