Lesley Anton is a ceramics artist based in Atlanta, GA. Her work has been featured in publications such as California Home and Design Magazine, Hollywood Reporter, Interior Design Magazine, Los Angeles Magazine, The LA Times, Periscope Magazine, and the San Francisco Chronicle. Anton has exhibited at various galleries in Atlanta and other cities across the US, including Signature Contemporary Craft Gallery, Pacific Design Center, Saratoga Clay Arts Center, the New York International Gift Show, and ShopSCAD, among others. Anton also has a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Artist Statement:My journey as a ceramic artist has taken me through clay classes in Nebraska, clay community studios in New York and Los Angeles, then in an unconventional turn I was challenged to create unique ceramic lamps for the high-end modern interior design industry in Los Angeles. This collection featured a combination of luscious high-fire reduction glazes and hand-turned wood accents. After some twists and turns I have landed in Atlanta, GA, continuing this clay journey. Ultimately, I strive to create functional work that is reminiscent of historic ware, using lush, variegated glaze palates highlighted by a rich black stoneware, allowing evidence of the hand through fingerprints shown in as many pieces as possible to evoke a timeless feeling. In practice, my glazing is loose, purposefully... Meaning, I leave the drips and overlaps on the surface as I love to see this movement in the glazed surface. The most recent vessel work focuses on combining modern forms with a vibrant crater glaze application using varied stains and oxides… and the beginning of this new story.
