Anne-Marie Zehnder is a ceramic artist with a primary interest in the figure in the context of water and the natural setting. Anne-Marie works from a live model in her studio, creating hand-built slab sculptures, relief sculptures and coil pots, all in high-fire red clay. Anne-Marie works in series, such as the recent series of twelve vessels in her exhibition “Vessel” at AMZehnder Gallery. In each series, the work is part of Anne-Marie's greater, years long discovery of the figure moving through water set against natural forms. Holding a BFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a master’s degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, in addition to working as a ceramic artist, Anne-Marie has worked as an art educator in schools and museums, and is the owner and director of AMZehnder Gallery and Studio in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.
