Hana Rucker makes things the slow way— by hand, from found and repurposed materials, in a home studio where form emerges through touch rather than plan. Her ceramic and sculptural works carry the quiet authority of objects that know exactly what they are. Functional or purely sculptural, each piece feels like it has already been somewhere, already meant something, before it arrives in your hands.Based in Milwaukie, Oregon, Rucker is a self-taught sculptor and ceramicist whose practice bridges craft, sustainability, and quiet beauty. Working from her home studio, she handcrafts sculptural and functional pieces from metal, wood, and clay—often incorporating found, recycled, or repurposed materials. Each work reflects a deep respect for process and imperfection, form and texture emerging intuitively through touch and time. Rucker’s practice extends beyond the studio into community and collaboration. She creates capsule collections for small galleries, designs bespoke dishware for private clients, and partners with local non-profits to offer ceramics as a form of art therapy for students and summer programs. Her work has been featured in exhibitions and publications celebrating craftsmanship and the handmade. Work by Hana Rucker is available through Illumine Gallery.
