Emma Lacey's handthrown tableware has tactility at its core. Emma is obsessed with creating connections between ceramic objects and people, using the materiality of clay to create comfortable, useful and emotional relationships between object and human. Her passion for the efficiency and attention to detail needed in production processes informs her design process and the way she work in her North London studio. After early experiences with the potter's wheel during a drop-in at her local YMCA, throwing has remained a core process in much of her work, as has a passion for accessibility to creative education; she has taught on Art Foundation courses for many years and now runs the second year of BA Ceramic at Central Saint Martins.
