Norma Lee Pfaff believes that art, like music, is an unspoken language. Each brushstroke and note becomes part of a story, a reflection of how she experiences the world. In a fast-paced time, she hopes her paintings encourage viewers to pause, even briefly, and find a moment of stillness in what they see. Born and raised on a small farm in Montana, Pfaff learned to observe the rhythms of nature and the behavior of animals in the wild at an early age. After more than thirty years as a tax practitioner, she returned to her first love in 2006, beginning a full-time career as an artist.Working primarily in oil, Pfaff builds her paintings in layers, often beginning with sketches from her own photographs. She focuses on the story within each subject, whether an animal, a person, or a landscape. Her goal is to create original works that hold depth, richness, and sincerity, pieces that speak directly to the viewer. For Pfaff, art is both a calling and a blessing. Every painting leads naturally to the next, and each day spent at the easel is a reminder of gratitude and beauty in the world around her.
