Keenan Perren is a self-taught artist originally from Vineland, NJ, now living in Bradenton, FL. Growing up in New Jersey, Keenan fell in love with skateboarding and began to experiment with art. After moving to Florida he began to mix the two interests. Using no paint, Perren takes broken and discarded skateboards and transforms them into works of art, creating detailed collages, portraits and sculptures from this alternative material. Piece by piece he constructs images of everyday life through his eyes. Perren's work has been exhibited in several exhibitions including “Push” at Art Center Sarasota, Sarasota, Fl, “Sonder’’ at Higher Art Gallery, Traverse City, MI, “Pop” at Art Center Sarasota, “Love Art, Love People’’ at SPAACES, Sarasota, FL, “All My Friends”, Sarasota, FL and “Raw Foundation”, Bradenton, FL. Articles featuring Perren’s work include Voyage Tampa, March 2023 “Rising Stars’’; Sarasota Magazine, November/December 2020 “Creative Spirits’’; and Sarasota Herald Tribune, November 2019, “Local artist Keenan rolls with the flow”.
