I am a naturalist painter who thrives on incorporating my life as an artist with my day-to-day work on our ranch in Westcliffe, Colorado. Caring for our horses and donkeys have taught me humility and given me a deeper connection to my humanity. They figure strongly in my work. Though I am a transplant to the West–I moved here from Georgia with my menagerie of animals–this authentic way of life is something I strive for in my painting. Mary’s career started at SCAD where she realized she didn’t want to be a graphic designer. After a year of technical drawing and design, she knew she wanted something different, and so left to pursue her passion of painting nature and animals. Mary soon began painting on a large scale as a muralist, a career that started on a lark but spanned the next 20 years of her life and took her to job sites across the country from Colorado to the Florida Keys and all over the Southeast. Mary’s work has been featured in Lake Oconee magazine and Atlanta Magazine, as well as the cover of Natural Awakenings Magazine. Her art has been featured on HGTV and The Vampire Diaries. Since moving west in 2020, she has focused solely on fine art painting and representing the west and western way of life.
