Ted Hendrickson’s photographs trace the quiet intelligence of place—how observation, patience, and chance conspire to reveal the world anew. A native of New London, Connecticut, Hendrickson studied at the University of Connecticut (BA, MFA) and the Rhode Island School of Design (MA in Art Education). His work has been widely exhibited and collected, and he is Associate Professor Emeritus of Photography at Connecticut College. In his recent body of work, Under a Green Canopy, Hendrickson uses a salvaged GoPro to explore the micro-landscapes of his summer garden from an unexpected vantage—the “bunny’s-eye view.” The camera, mounted to a hiking stick and guided through bean and tomato plants, transforms the familiar into something cinematic and strange. Merging technology and tenderness, Hendrickson’s images reimagine the garden as both habitat and cosmos, a site of intimacy and discovery within the everyday.
