Elizabeth Hale is an abstract painter living and working in Los Osos, California. Inspired by the local environment of the California central coast, her current work explores the interplay between structure and organic movement, the mirroring of natural rhythms and shifting qualities of the coastal landscape. Her artistic process is informed by layering, overpainting, and the manipulation of surfaces, creating dynamic interactions within each piece. The current work employs color to contrast, shift, and surprise. A dynamic sense of ebb and flow defines her work, where tight structure meets organic disintegration. Hale’s formal training includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and a Professional Designate Associate of Arts in Textile and Surface Design. Drawing on this background, her work embodies a deep understanding of pattern, texture, and color relationships.
