Oleg Ulitskiy is an impressionist painter whose work captures the changing light, atmosphere, and beauty of the landscapes around him. Born and educated in Odessa, Ukraine, he received classical training at the Odessa Art School, where he studied painting, drawing, sculpture, composition, and art history. This rigorous foundation, combined with later work in fine art restoration, gave him a deep understanding of traditional painting techniques and the enduring principles of representational art. Before immigrating to the United States in 2000, Oleg worked within Odessa’s vibrant arts community, exhibiting artwork and restoring significant oil paintings. In 1997, he received official authorization through the Kiev Museum of Russian Arts to restore museum-quality paintings and masterworks, a distinction reflecting both his technical skill and artistic knowledge. Today, Oleg’s work is firmly rooted in the Impressionist tradition. Through expressive brushwork, rich color, and a keen sensitivity to light, he seeks to capture the atmosphere and emotional character of a place rather than simply its physical appearance. Whether painting coastal shores, gardens, river valleys, village streets, or the dramatic landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, his work conveys a sense of mood, movement, and connection to the natural world. Drawing from both his Eastern European heritage and his experiences in the American Northwest, Oleg creates paintings that feel vibrant, inviting, and full of life. His compositions balance structure and spontaneity, allowing color, light, and atmosphere to guide the viewer's experience. A member of the Oil Painters Guild, Oleg continues to explore the ever-changing relationships between landscape, memory, and light. His paintings reflect a lifelong dedication to craftsmanship while embracing the immediacy, emotion, and beauty at the heart of Impressionism.
