He describes his work as “real life changed into something different,” painting and drawing rich scenes based on both real life scenarios and his own imagination. It’s easy to miss details in his work if you aren’t looking closely, as they’re lush with characters and latent narrative, sometimes buried in complex vistas made of colorful, layered shapes. It has taken Clem many years to develop his unique style. He enjoys studying his subjects and sketching out his ideas before starting on a final piece, for which he often takes a mixed media approach. Art is a form of expression and motivation for Clem.
