Betty Edge is an Atlanta-based photographer and long-time champion of the arts with a decades-long art practice. Her photography attempts to find unique ways to present aspects of nature we might miss as we hurriedly pass by. Flowers and water are two recurring subjects, seeking to capture their various patterns and rhythms. “When taking time to look at and inspect the various expressions of nature, one can see so many of the exciting nuances in each varied slice of our world,” says Betty. “ It is delicate and we need to protect it.” Born in Columbia, SC, she studied at the Randolph Macon Woman’s College and the University of South Carolina where she graduated with an AB in English, with cognates in Chemistry and Philosophy. Her interest in photography began at a young age, studying photography at the Atlanta College of Art, Showcase, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and the Atlanta School of Photography. Her work has been shown at the Georgia Botanical Garden in Athens and is part of the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia, Piedmont Hospital, Spivey Hall at Clayton State University and Brevard Music Center, among others.
