Sheila grew up loving drawing, but went on to pursue a career in health care and raise three children. Returning to the pursuit of art in 2012, she intensified her focus on painting in watercolor. Though having no formal art edu-cation, Sheila has studied with many artists who have influenced her work, including Sam Allerton Green, Cindy Baron, Lorraine Bromley, Bill Lane, Tim Saternow, Susan Shaw, and Vlad Yelisyev. Her work is representa-tional, mostly landscapes and seascapes, frequently done en plein air. Sheila has lived in Rhode Island most of her life. She currently resides in North Kingstown. She and her husband love to travel and paint, especially in their RV, "ArtVie"! Artist StatementMy artwork is continually evolving as I learn and explore the challenges of watercolor in plein air painting as well as with studio work. Painting is a form of mindful meditation where I am especially inspired by nature and being outdoors. Scenes that demonstrate the impact of humans on the earth or hold a story of the past, especially resonant with me. Leading a life in the arts has connected me to so many wonderful people, for which I am most grateful.
