André Malkine is a self-taught artist from Woodstock, NY, whose work is shaped by a lifelong love of comics, fantasy, and surrealism. He was inspired by his father, Gilles, an artist and draftsman whose creative work modeled artistic possibility and whosetechnical discipline revealed the craft of drawing by hand. He is also influenced by the paintings of his grandfather, Georges, who was active in the early surrealist movement in 20th-century Paris. André works primarily in black and white, using pencil and ink in both traditional and digital forms.
