Yoandy Suarez is a Cuban figurative painter and sculptor, known for his oil paintings that merge classical realism with modern abstract techniques. He is currently based in Gran Canaria, Spain. Suarez's work is characterized by a deep interest in human nature, feelings, and emotions. His technique involves a multilayered process, including drawing, glazes, and textural brush strokes, which he describes as creating an "amber stone" effect. His works have been exhibited in Asia, Europe, the USA and Cuba. In addition to painting, he developed a strong interest in sculpture, particularly in the in the field of ferrocement. Several of his permanent murals can be admired in Matanzas and at the Omara Portuondo Cultural Center in Havana. He presented his creations at the Havana Biennial in 2019, in the Plaza de la Revolutión, at the Fábrica de Arte Cubano and as a member of the community and socio-cultural project Imagen 3 on the Paseo del Prado in Havana and he is actively involved in the training of new talents and presents his works there. He currently lives in Gran Canaria, Spain, and continues his search for answers to his artistic and human existence.
