Cristine Cambrea is an intuitive, visionary artist who approaches her artwork in a spiritual, meditative way, bridging the conscious and subconscious through color, texture, and symbolism. Drawn to abstraction and guided by intuition, She layers acrylic, watercolor, ink, collage, and pencil to create intricate compositions that evolve through the process of discovery. Like staring at clouds on a summer afternoon, she sees things in the layers of paint, then coaxes them into greater definition. “I experience pareidolia, discovering faces, figures, and symbols in randomness. Once thought to be a symptom of psychosis, it is now recognized as part of the normal, imaginative human experience. For me, this way of seeing began in childhood, shaping how I relate to the world. Pareidolia is more than perception, it is a lens through which I view life. These shifting images emerge within layers of paint that I then pull out with my detail work, creating a living map or human landscape. The imagination and emotion invites viewers to explore hidden layers of their own inner worlds.” Cambrea’s process is meditative and ritualistic. Mixing her paints with selenite-infused water, a crystal long-revered for its cleansing energy, she seeks to imbue each piece with a subtle, restorative vibration. Each painting is an invitation for the viewer to look beyond the obvious an enter a state of deeper seeing, uncovering the quiet stories hidden within the layers of paint. She wants people to slow down, look closer, and find their own stories within its depths.
